Abstract

1439690 Tube supports in heat exchangers GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AG 20 Dec 1973 [21 Dec 1972] 59214/73 Headings F4A and F4S In a heat exchanger (e.g. a steam generator) in which a tube bundle 2 is contained within a casing 1 the tubes are supported by gratings 5 each of which comprises an annular frame 7 around the tubes, holders 10 mounted in the frame, and support bars 12 which are received within the holders. As shown the tube bundle is formed of U-tubes, but straight tubes can be used-the holders 10 are slotted sleeves which mount in bores 9 in the frame but slotted bars of round or any other cross-section can be used. A central brace 8 extends across each frame and is also provided with holders 10. Each grating can be prefabricated with only a portion of its final number of bars-the remaining bars being incorporated during the insertion of the tubes into the casing.
