Abstract
1,248,371. Boiler casings of welded tubes. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 17 April, 1970 [17 April, 1969], No. 18466/70. Hedaing F4A. In a horizontal water tube boiler, Fig. 1, the side walls 3, 4, 5 of the heating chamber are formed from vertical tubes 6 welded together in watertight manner, e.g. via longitudinal fins on the tubes. The tubes 6 form a water preheating system and are connected to headers 13, 14, 15 at their upper ends and similar headers below the floor. Muffle burners 8 are fed by blower 22 with fresh air drawn from below the floor and heated in preheater 20 by flue gases supplied through duct 30. The heating chamber is suspended from girders 1 and made up from several structural units 51, 53, 55, 59 of the same basic construction welded together. These structural units contain pipe nests which form economizer, reheater &c. Fig. 2 shows unit 53 containing superheater tube nest 11 formed of vertical panels of S-shaped tubes connected to external headers 48, 49 by pipes 11<SP>1</SP> passing through walls 35. The transportation frame of girders 37 to 42 is removed after the unit is mounted by welding to a previously mounted unit. The vertical pipes of walls 35 are connected to those of the adjacent units and form walls 5 of the heating chamber. Finally the open front and back of the assembly of units are closed by walls 3 and 4 of vertical tubes.
