Abstract

1,135,434. Tubular heat exchangers; steam superheaters. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 21 Jan., 1966 [21 Jan., 1965], No. 2897/66. Headings F4A and F4S. A heat exchanger comprises a flow duct 7 in which plane tube coils, comprising straight sections 3 having transverse or helical fins 7 joined by curved, finless sections 8, are mounted perpendicular to the length of the duct 1, the tube coils being supported on flanges 4 by saddles 5, the flanges 4 being welded to opposite walls of the flow duct, perpendicular to the walls and projecting out from the walls between the curved sections 8 to close to the straight sections 3. The flanges 4 are disposed in staggered relationship to those on the opposite wall. One wall (2, Fig. 2) adjacent to those on which the flanges 4 are mounted, is detachable. Adjacent tube coils are disposed in staggered relationship to each other (Fig. 1). Vibration damping rods (10, Fig. 2), as described in Specification 1,135,433, are pushed between the straight sections 3.
