Abstract

1472220 Water-tube boilers AUTOMATION INDUSTRIES Inc 5 Aug 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 34401/74 Heading F4A In a water-tube boiler including a combustion chamber 18 and at least one module comprising a pair of cast iron headers 38 disposed on opposite sides of the combustion chamber 18, each header has a plurality of openings therein and corresponding cast iron finned tubes 40, having fins 62 cast integrally therewith, are located between the headers. A tie rod 60 is provided inside at least one of the finned tubes 40 and extends the full length of the tube to create a force which compresses the headers on to the tubes. As shown in Fig. 10 the tubes have baffles 75 having extensions 77 which fit closely to the edges of the fins 62 so as to direct the hot exhaust gases directly on to the tubes and fins.
