Abstract

1336236 Heat exchangers SOC ANON DES USINES CHAUSSON 19 April 1971 [25 Feb 1970] 22486/71 Heading F4S In a radiator core comprising a row of spaced apart tubes 1, 1a &c. of flattened cross-section with corrugated fin strips 2 interposed between and in contact with adjacent tubes, each tube wall is formed with rows of stampings 5 or 6 which extend inwardly into the tube interior in a manner such that corresponding stampings the opposite walls mutually contact one another and may be joined together as by welding. The stamping in adjacent rows are inclined in opposite directions thereby to constrain fluid flowing through the tubes to follow a tortuous path. The fin strips 2 bear against and are secured to the tube walls in the zones 8, 8a, 8b between adjacent rows of stampings. The tubes, which have a width equal to the thickness of the radiator core, terminate in headers 3.
