Abstract

860,359. Heat exchangers. MORRIS MOTORS Ltd. Aug. 31, 1959 [Sept. 16, 1958], No. 29576/58. Class 64(3) In a heat exchanger in which spaced tubes of narrow cross-section each formed from a pair of rectangular tube walls 3 spaced apart by tube noses 5, extend between headers each comprising a cover 1 and a tube plate assembled from strips 4, the header covers 1 are flanged at the base and formed with a pair of inwardly directed grooves adapted to receive corresponding projections 8 at the ends of the tube walls 3, similar projections on the tube noses 5 and also the ends of the tube plate strips 4. Secondary heat transfor surfaces 6, 7 are provided as shown within and between the tubes. The tube walls 3a at each side of the matrix are extended beyond the location of the tube plate to form the sides of the header tanks.
