Abstract
1,230,255. Steam generators. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 25 June; 1969 [25 June, 1968], No. 32133/69. Heading F4A. A steam generator comprises radiationheated heat exchangers 51, 52, Fig. 1, in a combustion chamber 57, and convection-heated heat exchangers 53 to 56 in flue-gas flues 58 and 59. Heat exchanger 53 comprises numerous panels 3 and 4, Fig. 2, of sinuous tubing, arranged in pairs so that the tubes alternate, loops 9 being bent out so that the tubes can align completely. The tubes of panels 3 and 4 are secured to cross-members 5, 6 and 7, 8 respectively and the panels are suspended on flexible tube portions 3<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP> which extend through the roof 2 of the flue-gas flue 58 and are welded thereto. The cross-members 5, 6 and 7, 8 are connected by rods 15 to 18 to levers 20, 21 rocked by a fluid actuated piston 23 which is operable to separate the planes of the panels 3, 4 to increase the heat transfer from the flue gas to the working medium in the tubes. In Fig. 6 (not shown) the tube panels 3, 4 are suspended by flat members (61), secured to the cross-members, welded to the flue-gas flue cover 2.
