Abstract
1398122 Heat exchanger BABCOCK & WILCOX CO 26 May 1972 [27 May 1971] 25003/72 Heading F4A A heat exchanger comprises a plurality of parallel connected flow paths, tubes of a first group 76 each providing an inlet length 64 succeeded by a sinuous length 86, and tubes of a second group 74 each providing a sinuous length 80 succeeded by an outlet portion 60, wherein the inlet portions 64 of the first group and the outlet portions 60 of the second group are suspended from above and are generally vertical, and lie between the sinuous portions of the second and first groups respectively and are connected thereto. The connections are made by welds 29, and the tubes 60, 64 are secured together by welds 68. The first group is located above the second and preferably contains twice as many tubes; the inlets 64 together with inlets 58 to the second group are fed from header 56, while the outlets 60 and outlets 66 of the first group lead to an outlet header (62), Fig. 1 (not shown). The heat exchanger may be a primary superheater (42) in a gas passage (28) of a vapour generator.
