Abstract
722,781. Steam superheaters. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Dec. 19, 1952. [Dec. 22, 1951] No. 32230/52. Class 123 (3). A steam superheater comprises parallel groups of sinuous tubes 1, 2 which are located within a gas pass 14 leading from the combustion chamber 13 of a steam boiler to a downflow pass, not shown, and are supported therein by weld-uniting, through connecting pieces 6, 7, the upper bends of each to a steam-generating &c. roof tube 5 of pass 14. The roof tubes 5 are themselves supported from an upper framework, not shown, by links 9 terminating in plates 8 the lower edges of which are welded to said tubes. The tubes 1, 2 extend between inlet and outlet headers 3, 4, and welds may. be made at points 15, 16 in the tubes 5 and at 17, 18 in the tubes 1, 2 so that units, each consisting of a tube 5 and a group 1, 2 with welded connections 6, 7, 8, may be pre-fabricated.
