986,307. Water-tube steam and hot-water boilers. H. VORKAUF. Oct. 24, 1963 [Jan. 11, 1963], No. 42068/63. Heading F4A. In a steam generator, hot-water boiler or the like water is heated on flowing through tubes extending from hexagonally arranged distributing headers 1a ... 1f to hexagonally arranged collecting headers 2a ... 2f. The two hexagons are disposed immediately above one ano ther. Tubes 3 extending from three non-adjoining headers 1b, 1d, 1f of the distributing header hexagon are connected to intermediate headers 4 from each of which a group of tubes extends to similar headers 7 which are similarly connected by tubes 8 to the collecting header hexagon. The headers la, 1e, 1c of the distributing header hexagon which are not connected to tube groups may be connected to corresponding headers of the collecting header hexagon by tubes 9. A burner having an axis 5 may be provided. The headers 4 are disposed at 60 degrees to the associated header as shown. In a further embodiment the headers 4 are shorter than the distributing headers 1a-1f and parallel headers 4 extend both from one distributing header and part of an adjoining one so that a space is formed within the hexagonal prism.
