Abstract

1,141,466. Water tube steam generators. YARROW & CO. Ltd. 25 Feb., 1966 [25 Feb., 1965], No. 8175/65. Heading F4A. An oil, gas, solid fuel or waste heat fired steam generator, comprises a furnace chamber 2 lined with upright riser tubes 3, 4 and 5, extending between a lower header 12 and an upper steam drum 11. The tubes 3 and 4 after defining the top wall of the furnace chamber 2 then run in serpentine fashion transversely across two convection gas passes 8 and 9 on their way to the drum 11. Super-heating and economizer sections (not shown) may also be located in the generator. Downcomer tubes 14, 13 also interconnect the drum 11 to the header 12, and serve to support both the former, and also the casing plates of the generator. In modifications the riser tubes may have projecting fins, the drum 11 may be situated on the centre line of the generator, or the gas passes may be located side by side.
