Abstract

298,863. Stirling Boiler Co., Ltd., (Babcock & Wilcox Co.). March 30, 1928. Steam-generator furnaces; firebridges. - A bridge wall 28 which may separate two furnaces 26, 27 is provided on opposite sides with banks of water tubes 37, 38, preferably inclined in opposite directions and as shown in Fig. 4, connected to headers 39 - - 42 in communication through pipes 43 - - 46 with the water circulation system of the boiler heated by the furnace. The tubes 37, 38 are covered with tile or other refractory material 48. The furnaces may burn solid or fluid fuel (oil or gas), or one may burn solid and the other fluid fuel as shown.
