Abstract

1423015 Heat exchangers GORKOVSKY AVTOMOBILNY ZAVOD 14 Dec 1973 58120/73 Heading F4S A heat exchanger in particular a radiator core for use in an engine cooling system, comprises flat-sided tubes 3 of elongate cross-section, extending between upper and lower tube plates 1, and corrugated-plate fins 5 secured between adjacent tubes and forming therewith channels 4 for the fluid (e.g. cooling air) passing over the tubes, each said channel 4 comprising a plurality of sections which are alternately relatively wide and relatively narrow along the length of the channel, longitudinal portions (e.g. 6-9) of the channel, which are the relatively wide portions thereof, being displaced from each other in the general plane of the fin. Adjacent relatively wide displaced sections are interconnected by the relatively narrow sections (e.g. 10, 11, 12) of the channel. Either a single fin plate, Fig. 4, or two face-to-face fin plates, Fig. 5, may be secured between adjacent tubes 1.
