Abstract
1,201,855. Heat exchanger tube supports. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. 31 July, 1969 [31 July, 1968], No. 36565/68. Heading F4S. In a heat exchanger in which a tube bank consists of a plurality of concentric helices 7a, 7b, 7c, spacer means between the helices comprises radially extending rows, e.g. A, B, C, D, Fig. 2, of spacer bars, e.g. 13, 14, 15. The bars in each row are spaced from each other by distancepieces, e.g. 9b, 9c, which are spaced longitudinally along the spacer bars and are relatively staggered in adjacent spaces between the bars, as shown in Fig. 3. Each distance piece is welded at one end to a spacer bar and bridges the gap between that bar and the next, being in abutment either with that next bar, as shown in Fig. 3, or alternatively (Fig. 4) with the tube passing through said next bar.
