Abstract
668,840. Two-part couplings. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd. Nov. 17, 1949 [Dec. 10, 1948], No. 32030/48. Class 38 (i). [Also in Group XXVIII] In a pin-and-socket type coupling, the shroud 23 of a keeper 22 slidable axially on a member 10 engaged in a socket 19 of a member 20 embraces at least one lever 15 pivoted on the member 10 to maintain the lever in engagement with a recess 21 of the socket. There may be a spring 25 urging the shroud to the locking position and a nose 18 of the levers, which may be provided with rollers 16, to produce a camming action to bring the members tightly together. In a modification, the shroud is interrupted and is rotatable about the axis of member 10 and against a spring. Pipes or rods may be connected (see Group XXVIII).
