Abstract

614,356. Agricultural implements. BEVAN, A. P., and TRANSPLANTERS (ROBOT), Ltd. July 11, 1946, No. 20780. [Class 6 (i)] [Also in Groups XXV and XXXII] A coupling for tractors, agricultural vehicles and implements comprises a male and female member 2, 1, which interengage, the member 1. having lugs or interrupted threads 17 on the periphery and the member 2 having a locking member 18 with corresponding lugs or threads 22 and handles 20, loosely mounted beyond a flange 11 on the member 2 such that when the two members are engaged the locking member is moved forwardly so that the lugs 22 pass between and beyond the lugs 17 and the handles are rotated causing the lugs 17 and 22 to interlock. The member 2 is of cruciform section and the base is provided with a conical seating 17 and key 14 on the flange which engage with a corresponding seating 6 and slot 15 on the member 1 to centralize the coupling. The handles 26, Fig. 5, may be screwed at 24 into the base of the locking member so that when the lugs 17, 22 are engaged the handles may be further rotated to bear on the back of the flange 11 to take up any slack due to wear. The locking member 18 and the female member 1 may be engaged by corresponding threads of coarse pitch.
