Abstract

109,878. Williams, T. Nov. 16, 1916. Couplings, non-automatic.-The D-shackle of a coupling-chain for colliery trams is connected to the draw-plate F by providing the upper eye A of the shackle and the drawplate respectively with oval holes B, G normally at right-angles to each other, and by forming the pin H with an oval projection C. The coupling is effected by turning the shackle so that the holes in the shackle and draw-plate coincide, dropping the pin in position so that the projection C lies in the hole in the draw-plate, and then swinging the shackle through 90 degrees to its normal position so as to lock the pin.
