In a pipe coupling permitting axial movement as well as angular deflection relative to one another of the pipe lengths 1, 16 to be coupled, while maintaining a tight seal between them and preventing unintentional disengagement of the pipe lengths, a reinforced tubular extension 1a rust-proof at least on its outer circumference, is welded to the end of pipe 1, a yoke 2, having a nose 3 in which a spring-biased safety bolt 10 is provided, being also mounted on the pipe 1, and a muffle-shaped casing 17 which contains an annular sealing member 13 resiliently contacting the extension 1a is welded to the pipe 16. A buckle 4 is hinged on the casing 17 and can be swung over the nose 3 when the bolt 10 is depressed but is prevented from being swung out of engagement with the yoke 2 by the protruding bolt 10. A vent hole 12 is provided in the bore of the safety bolt 10 and an 0-ring 18 is provided to maintain a tight seal. A screw-tapped socket 6 or sockets are provided for connection of branch lines. In a modification the yoke 2 has two noses 3 on opposite ends of a diameter each engaged by a buckle hinged to the casing 17. In another embodiment the buckle 4 is hinged in an open recess of a hookshaped extension of the casing 17, the open recess in operation being locked by a readily removable resilient pin sprung into the extension and a protective cam in the form of an inclined ramp is provided for the safety bolt. A similar inclined ramp is provided on the extension.
