Abstract

839,680. Rotary joints. GAS COUNCIL. Feb. 9, 1959, No. 4462/59. Class 99(1). A swivel pipe joint for connecting a gas pipe to a gas appliance comprises two inter-fitting tubular parts 1, 2 held together by a spring circlip 6 in annular grooves 7, 8 in the parts 1, 2 respectively, the joint between the parts 1, 2 being sealed by a rubber 0-ring 9 which is held in an annular groove 10 in the part 2 and presses against the part 1. As shown, the groove 8 is of rectangular cross-section whilst the groove 7 is of part circular cross-section with a face 13 at right angles to the common longitudinal axis of the parts 1, 2. The part 1 is internally chamfered at 11, 12. When assembling the joint the circlip 6 and the 0-ring 9 are placed in the grooves 8, 10 respectively, and the part 1 is pushed over the part 2 until the circlip engages the groove 7.
