[Class 99 (i)] A rubber jointing sleeve c is secured on a pipe a by forming the pipe near its end with an external annular recess and corresponding internal projection b, the sleeve having on its end an external ferrule e and an internal swelling engaging the recess, and by expanding the pipe by a drift or like tool to eliminate the projection and recess. The ferrule may be corrugated and have an inturned end f. Specification 515,415 is referred to.
