873,886. Pipe connectors. K. A. C. Ltd. May 23, 1960 [June 18, 1959], No. 21014/59. Class 99(1). In a connector for pipes 6, 19 and comprising a tubular connecting piece 1 having at one end a peripheral flange 2 for fluid-tight cooperation with a complementary flange 5 on the end of the pipe 6 and having a bore substantially equal to that of the pipes 6, 19, a coupling sleeve 14 is telescopically arranged over the connecting piece 1 and is provided with a peripheral flange 18 for fluid-tight cooperation with a flange 20 on the end of the pipe 19, means being provided for sealing the sleeve 14 fluid-tightly about the connecting piece 1 and for adjusting the sleeve axially with respect to the connecting piece. As shown, the sleeve 14 is formed of parts 14a, 14b having complementary mating flanges held together by clamps and providing therebetween a parallelogram-section annular recess in which is disposed a dished metal annulus 17 which engages the outer surface of the connecting piece. 1. The sleeve 14 is rotatably secured by a wire 15 to a ring nut 13 which screw-threadedly cooperates with an adjusting sleeve 10 capable of being screwed on the connecting piece 1. The flanges 2, 5 and 18, 20 are held by clamps and have located between them dished metal annuli. Specifications 732,442, 735,271, 736,879 and 790,625 are referred to.
