Abstract

In a process for improving the manufacture of anisotropic permanent magnets from sintered alloys, 0.1-2.0 per cent by weight of Ti is added to the mixture to be sintered. This may be wholly or partially replaced by a chemically equivalent amount of Nb, V, Ce, B, Zr, Ta, and/or a rare earth metal. The addition may be made in the form of a hydride, binary alloy, ternary alloy and/or any complex comprising one or more of the constituents of the alloy used, such alloy additions being uncontaminated with non-metallic impurities.
