Abstract
A nickel-molybdenum alloy or nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy of good ductility and heat- and corrosion-resistance, has a composition within one of the following ranges, in per cent by weight Mo 19.0-32.0, Cr nil, C 0.01-0.03, Si 0.05-0.6, Fe 0.1-2.0, Ni, with impurities, the remainder, Mo 10.0-19.0, Cr 10.0-18.0, C 0.01-0.03, Si 0.05-0.6, Fe 0.1-2.0 Ni with impurities, the remainder. The desired low content of carbon, silicon and iron is obtained by melting the alloy in vacuum e.g. in a vacuum of 0.1 m.m. of mercury at 1650 DEG C. for at least thirty minutes. In examples given the alloys contain Mn as impurity in amount of 0.5%.
