Abstract
Alloys suitable for the production of heat-resisting castings such as salt bath containers have compositions within the following range, in per cent by weight: Ni 32.0-38.0, Cr 14.0-20.0, C up to 1.5, Si 1.0-2.0, Nb 1.0-3.0, N 0.05-0.2, Se 0.01-0.1, Fe the balance. Cu 0.1-1.5 and/or Mn 1.0-2.0 may also be present in the alloys. Nb, which may contain a small amount of residual Ta, may be added as the metal or as ferroniobium. N is preferably added as nitrogenous ferro-chromium and Se as ferroselenium.
