Abstract

A spray weldable alloy has the following composition in percentages by weight: .C.0 to 1.5 .Si.1 to 6 .B.1 to 6 .Fe.0 to 10 .Cr.0 to 20 .Cu.3 to 8 .Mo.3 to 10 .Ni.and impurities the balance Steel articles may be coated by means of a conventional powder metal spray gun followed by heating to 1000 DEG F. with an oxyacetylene torch. The alloy may also be used in the form of a rod in conjunction with a suitable spray gun.
