Abstract
A wear-resistant alloy has the following percentage composition, by weight:- .Cr.25 -30 .Co.8 -12 .Fe.10 -15 .W.5 -12 .Mo.5 -12 .C.0,8- 1,6 .Si.0 - 1,5 .Mn.0 - 2 .Ni.(at least 20) the remainder The alloy may be used for castings and for hard-facing by welding. It is particularly suitable for valve seats in I.C. engines. The following alloys, stated to be known, are also referred to in the Specification:- .Cr.30,5.29 .W.12,5.15 .C.2,5.2,4 .Si.0,4.0,6 .Mn.0,7.0,2 .B.0,1.- .Co.Bal.10 .Ni.2.Bal .Fe.3 max..7 max
