Abstract

A wear-resistant alloy has the following percentage composition by weight :- .Cr. .Mo.13 - 21 .W.12 - 19 in total .B.0.2 - 1.8 .C.1.8 - 4 .Si.0.4 - 1.8 .Fe.(at least 38) the balance, with B + 0.25 C + 0.5 Si = 0.85 - 3.7 The alloy may also contain Co up to 10, V up to 4 and Ni up to 1.75. The alloy is particularly suitable for hard facing valves and valve lifters for internal combustion engines.
