A tubular spout, of rubber, Neoprene or polythene, polyvinyl chloride &c. is inserted into the neck of a container by compressing it at a flanged end, Fig. 2, the flange 11 sealing the container neck 14 when pouring and preventing the spout from falling out. The neck 14 may be closed by a sprung-on, split-skirt closure cap, an outer flange 12 acting as a sealing washer. In modifications, a screw-plug may be used instead of the spring cap; such a plug may remain on the spout during pouring, there being an opening in the side of the spout which may be varied in size by bending the body 10 of the spout; a thickening 21 on the inner end portion of the wall of the spout may be omitted or the wall may be stepped outwardly there; the inside of the spout may be ribbed; the outer flange 12 of the spout may be recessed at the top to receive a radial flange of a push-in plug, the plug and the spout being covered by a cap screwing over the neck 14 which is screw-threaded externally. In the modification illustrated in Fig. 12 a screw plug 36 is secured as illustrated for pouring but is pressed past a shoulder 33 and along a spring-wire loop 32 for replacing the plug, and air passes into the container, during pouring, by way of passage 38, a nipple 39, and a pipe 40 the end of which is fitted to a float 41, e.g. of cork.
