Abstract
660,354. Supplying pulp to paper-making machines. BLACK-CLAWSON CO. Feb. 4, 1948 [May 25, 1940], No. 3248/48. Class 96. In supplying pulp to a paper-making machine, white water collects in a receiver and is returned through a pipe 21 to mix with fresh pulp supplied by a pipe 41 and the resulting pulp is delivered by a pump 42 to the inlet chamber 48 of a casing 45 enclosing a screen 47 through which the pulp strains into the discharge chamber 49 and then passes, as through a pipe 23 and counterflow conduit 24, to the forming cylinder or wire, the chamber 49 being connected directly with the white water receiver as through a pipe 59 a pump 57 and a pipe 58 joining the pipe 21. The screen may be cylindrical and the chamber 48 may communicate with the inside of the screen. The latter may be spaced from the casing to form an annular discharge chamber. The inner surface of the screen may be scraped by rotating blades 51. Heavy impurities which settle in the chamber 48 may be drawn off through a pipe 55. Light impurities and foam may be discharged through a pipe 52.
