[Class 96] In a system for supplying pulp to a papermaking machine, white water draining from the forming wire 10 or cylinder, is collected in a pit 12 and, together with fresh pulp, is recirculated, e.g. by gravity or a pump 15 and a pipe 17, to a screen' 19 whence the diluted pulp is pumped along a pipe 23 to the wire 10 &c. by a pump 22, the output of which is regulated by a device 55 responsive to changes in the rate of supply of pulp from the screen 19. A header 20 may be placed between the screen 19 and the pump 22 and the device 55 may respond to changes in the pulp level in the header. The device 55 may have electrodes to sense the level of pulp in the header and these electrodes may be connected to, e.g. electrical circuits 61, regulating the output of the pump 22 to correct for changes in the pulp level and moving the electrodes as by a small motor to discontinue the action of the device 55. The pulp may flow through an inlet 25 with oppositely arranged tapering passages 26 and 27 having a common discharge slot 29. The output of the pump 15 may be regulated likewise or by pressures at a slice 33. Specification 646,423 is referred to.
