Abstract
672,278. Slices of Fourdrinier paper-making machines. WALMSLEYS (BURY), Ltd., and TEMPERLEY, J. Sept. 27, 1950 [Sept. 27, 1949], No. 24723/49. Class 96. A vertical series of angularly adjustable vanes 15 in a now-box of a Fourdrinier papermaking machine allow pulp to pass over a weir 13 to the slice 14 at various levels simultaneously so that with high heads of pulp stagnation does not occur at the upper levels. The vanes may have stops to prevent complete closure of the openings between them. An angularly adjustable baffle 17, a flow-evener roll 16, and a dump valve 18 below a constriction 12c may be provided, and such flow boxes may have more or fewer undulating passages 12a, 12b than are shown.
