Abstract

419,369. Fourdrinier paper-making machines. WALLQUIST, I., 14, Ovra Olskroksgatan, Gothenburg, Sweden. May 11, 1933, No. 13709. [Class 96.] Pulp at or near the flow-box of a Fourdrinier paper-making machine is subjected to water, steam, gas, air, vapour, &c., supplied from an outside source to produce transverse currents evenly distributed across the wire, and tending to lay the fibres transversely of the wire. The water &c. flows in the direction S, Fig. 2, from pipes &c., 3<a>, 3b, oblique or transverse to the wire, which may also act as slices, and meets the pulp suspension as jets or as a sheet or sheets. The pipes may be adjustable in height and may contact with the pulp and have holes so positioned that the fluid does not meet the atmosphere before entering the pulp. The pipes &c. 3, Fig. 9, may have two rows of holes 4<a>, 4b, oppositely directed or may be on an outlet lip or lips of the flow-box 5, Fig. 11.
