Abstract

775,988. Fourdrinier paper- or board-making machines. ST. ANNE'S BOARD MILL CO., Ltd. March 29, 1955 [April 6, 1954; March 4, 1955], Nos. 9981/54 and 6509/55. Class 96. The invention of Specification 748,597, viz. the compression of fluid pulp on the wire-cloth 13 of a Fourdrinier paper- or board-making machine, as by one or more travelling, upper wire-cloths 18, is modified in that water passing through the upper wire-cloth is withdrawn by suction, e.g. from an assembly of suction boxes 24 pivoted at 25 and adjusted at 35, and optionally suction nozzles 48, and optionally also by the sloping blades up which the water runs due to its momentum, as disclosed in the said prior Specification. The first lower roll 19 of the upper wire-cloth 18 may be adjusted in height, and is located above a large table roll 38 which may be a suction roll. There may be a series of wet presses 40, 41 along the wire-cloth. Deckles 45 at the sides of the wire-cloth may have air jets along their lower sides.
