The invention covered by Claim 12 of the parent Specification, for upwardly removing water through an upper wirecloth &c. travelling in contact with the pulp on the main wirecloth 100 of a paper-making machine, is modified in that a further doctor or slice 63 or a succession thereof presses the lower run of the upper wirecloth 70 downwardly, and removes white water and directs it into troughs 68. The slices 63 may be suction slices.
