Paper pulp is sprayed at 18 into a converging space between the lower run 4 of an upper wire-cloth 1 and the upper run 12 of a lower wire-cloth 10, water being expressed as the two wires converge and as they pass between press rolls 17 &c., the web 21 thus formed being directed from the lower to the upper wire by a doctor 20. One or more further plies may likewise be formed and felted to the under side of the web 21 by supplying pulp between it and one or more further wire-cloths similar to 10.
