Abstract
A fancy tissue paper in which variously shaped sequins of anodized and dyed aluminium foil are distributed over the area of the paper is prepared by adding a mixture of sequins and water to the stuff in the headbox of a Fourdrinier machine and discharging the mixture via the slice on to the moving wire. A cylinder-type machine may be used but a Fourdrinier machine is preferred since it is found that the sequins then tend to settle nearer to the upper surface of the web with consequently improved appearance. The sequins used are approximately of the same thickness as the tissue paper itself and may range in size from 1/32 inch to 3/16 inch. The headbox concentration is stated to be 99.7% to 99.95% water, 0.05 to 0.3% fibres and less than 0.03% sequins.
