Abstract

586,778. Cylinder paper-making machines. WALMSLEYS (BURY), Ltd., and TEMPERLEY, J. Oct. 18, 1944, No. 20123. [Class 96] A main pulp-stream passes around most of the submerged part of the forming-cylinder 2 of a paper-making machine, and a number of streams of pulp, backwater, or fresh water are fed into the main stream at spaced positions and in individually controlled quantities. The main stream, entering at 11 may flow with or against the rotary movement of the forming cylinder 2, and above a false bottom 5 which has openings 6, 7. controlled by slices 8, 9.. for the subsidiary streams from an inlet 15. The space between the two floors may be divided by circumferential partition walls to even the flow, and, according to the Provisional Specification, to provide for pulp of different colours &c. for making variegated paper. Dump valves 19, 20, 21, inlet control valves, an adjustable inlet dam 12, an adjustable overflow slice 24, and an apron 4 may be provided.
