585,249. Cylinder paper-making machines. WALMSLEYS (BURY), Ltd., and TEMPERLEY, J. Nov. 29, 1944, No. 23761. [Class 96] A weir in a cylinder paper-making machine is formed as a series of plates 10 pivoted at 11, the top of each plate normally resting against the lower part of the one above, or against a rubber boss &c. 19 thereon. The plates are individually adjustable to control the height of back-water in the cylinder mould 2. Pulp supplied at 6 flows via a valve 7. A false bottom, formed by streamlined valve-vanes 5, may allow additional pulp, back-water, or fresh water, supplied at 3, to be fed tangentially to the main pulp stream. Excess pulp &c. overflows a weir 8. Overflow from the plates 10 flows at 16 to a tank 17 which has a V notch for measurement.
