Abstract

642,481. Centrifugal pumps. LEJE & THURNE AKTIEBOLAG. April 8, 1948, No. 9876. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1947. [Class 110(i)] [Also in Group VIII] Paper pulp or waste paper is disintegrated in water in a tank 1 by rotation of blades 10 on an off-centre shaft 2, a disc 11 having a central opening 12 above which are strips 13 and arms 14 rotated with the shaft 2 for initially breaking up the pulp &c. and preventing large pieces from entering the opening 12. The arms 14 may also aid in circulating the pulp which passes from the blades 10 to an outlet 16 and thence may go to a beater. In a modification the shaft 2 is central and can be moved vertically to raise the blades 10 for normal running and to lower them into a recess in the bottom of the tank for emptying. Provision may be made for re-circulating part of the pulp leaving at 16.
