Abstract
514,090. Centrifugal machines. DAMIEN, M., and THEVARD, P. Jan. 21, 1938, No. 2078. Void. Convention date, Jan. 22, 1937. [Class 23] A centrifugal machine has washing means attached to its casing so that a washing medium can be directed on to the side surface of the bowl. The bowl 6, Fig. 1, is enclosed by a casing 2 with a cleaning pipe 1 which can be turned to the position shown in dotted lines when not required. To clean the bowl the pipe 1 is turned to the position shown in full lines and the valve 4 is opened to admit the washing fluid. The deposited material is disintegrated and washed through the orifices 7 into the casing from which it passes by the pipe 8. The washing pipe may be applied to a machine with a horizontal axis and the washings are removed from the bowl by a siphon or pump. In the suspended machine shown in Fig. 3 the washing pipe 1 enters the bowl from below and the washings pass through the aperture 10 to the casing and discharge pipe 11.
