Abstract

1437635 Pulp stock supply apparatus ALLIS-CHALMERS CORP 6 Aug 1973 [11 Aug 1972] 37208/73 Heading D2A Pulp stock is delivered to a Sheet forming device such as a Fourdrinier machine by means of a rotary pump comprising a pumping chamber 23, a pumping element 24 rotatably mounted therein, a plurality of vanes 27 arranged around the pumping element 24 to define a plurality of circumferentially spaced passages to receive pressurised stock from the pumping element and to divide it into a plurality of individual streams, and an annular chamber 28 disposed around the passages to collect and combine the streams. Excess white water or stock from the wire 6 is collected at 8 and passes to pump 11 along with new pulp stock from a supply 12. The stock passes to the sheet forming device from the pump 11 via a screening device 14. Pump 11 is preferably constructed so that the spacing between the inner ends of adjacent vanes is unequal as shown in Fig. 2, and the inner ends may be staggered as shown in Figure 4. Alternatively, pump 11 may be a standard vaned centrifugal pump (Figure 5, not shown).
