Abstract

[Class 64 (i)] [See also Group VIII] A continuously acting digester comprises a slightly inclined perforated tube 6 rotated in bearings 5 in a fixed casing 1 having expansion joints 2 and a dome 3 with a relief valve 4, a thermo-couple 70 which controls contacts for a steam valve 41, and a float 72 which actuates rheostats 73 such that if the float rises motors 20 &c., reduce the supply of raw material, &c., and increase the speed of a rotating outlet valve 52. The proportions of the digester 1 and its inlet 17 are stated.
