Abstract

462,187. Lubricators. MACDONALD, A. Oct. 21, 1935, No. 28938. [Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVI] Oil is circulated between a stern tube 1 and a propeller shaft 2 from an overhead tank 29. An inlet pipe 30 has an end leading to the space between the tube 1 and the shaft 2 in the region of the downward oil swirl, and a return pipe 31 has its lower end located in the region of the upward oil swirl. The temperature difference between the oil entering and leaving the stern tube aids the circulation.
