428,114. Cylinder paper - making machines. BLACK - CLAWSON CO., Vine Street, Hamilton, Ohio, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Kutter, H. L.) Feb. 22, 1934, No. 5859. Convention date, April 8, 1933. [Class 96] Pulp flows to the forming cylinder 10 of a paper-making machine from an inlet chamber 12 coextensive with a dam 20 which has a top surface of substantial width and which is free from obstruction to flow of pulp thereover. Pulp flows in at 13 to a funnel 14 the top of which extends the full width of the vat whereupon the flow is evened by the converging and diverging parts 15, 16 of a wall of a passage 18. The pulp then flows over the dam 20 to the space between the vat and the walls of the forming cylinder 10 which converges towards an adjustable overflow wall 24 so that the speed of flow substantially equals that of the screen. The overflow passes into a compartment 28 preferably extending the width of the vat, and out at 29 to be brought to the required consistency for re-use. The white water from the cylinder 10 passes to compartments at the sides of the vat, some of it flows to waste over an adjustable dam, and the remainder through pipes 31, 32, for reuse. The vat may be of metal and the dam 20 of bronze.
