Abstract
660,003. Drying grass &c. SLADE, R. E. May 27, 1949 [June 2, 1948], No. 14878/48. Class 34(ii) In a drying apparatus wherein the material is supported on an apertured tray 5 and hot air is passed through the perforations 11 of the tray and the material to be dried, the perforations do not extend right up to the sides of the tray but are spaced therefrom by a distance approximately equal to between one half and one third the depth of the tray. Hot air is supplied through furnace 1, spark tray 2, blower 3 and air inlet duct 4. In modifications the imperforate part of the tray has subsidiary wall elements at an angle of 45 degrees or, a completely perforated tray may be used and the border perforations rendered inoperative by blanking plates lying flat on the tray or by subsidiary wall elements at an angle of 45 degrees.
