Abstract
659,141. Furnace regenerators. METZNER, O., and MATTERN, O. May 3, 1949, No. 11830. [Class 64(i)] [Also in Group XII] In apparatus for utilizing the residual heat from a cupola furnace in a recuperator (see Group XII) wherein the waste gases are burnt in a combustion chamber supplied with a quantity of hot air varied according to the carbon monoxide content of said gases, hot gases leaving the combustion chamber 5 are diluted with cold air or cooled waste gases by a valve 10 controlled by a known device according to the temperature of the waste gases entering the recuperator 13 and the total flow of hot gases drawn through the recuperator by a fan 4 is automatically controlled by a slide valve 11 to produce a constant though adjustable temperature of the air blast leaving the recuperator.
