Abstract

Magnesium and manganese-containing binary alloys thereof are treated to ensure the formation of finely crystalline castings by a method which comprises alloying with the molten metal 0.001-0.015 per cent aluminium and 0.01-0.7 per cent of calcium and treating the melt with nitrogen.
