Abstract

A process for introducing Be into alloys of Mg, which do not initially contain Al as a constituent, comprises utilizing for this introduction a master Al-Be alloy. The alloy may be of the Mg-Zn-Mn type and it may contain Ce. The invention may be applied to the production of an alloy having the following composition: Zn 60 per cent Ce 0.7 per cent, Mn 0.5 per cent, Al 0.2 per cent, Be 0.005 per cent, Mg the remainder.
