Abstract

656,318. Tractor wheels. CAIRNS, J. Jan. 3, 1949, No. 38. [Class 144 (i)] A slip-preventing attachment for pneumatically-tyred tractor wheels 10 comprises an auxiliary wheel 13 having a flat tread rim 14 which has ground-engaging projections 15 and is connected by inclined radial spokes 16 to an annular hub member 17 laterally outwardly offset from the vertical plane of one side edge of said rim 14, bolt holes being provided in the hub member 17 for attachment to the tractor wheel hub 11. As shown, the projections 15 lie just within the outer periphery of the tractor wheel 10 and laterally spaced from the pneumatic tyre to allow unobstructed deformation thereof under pressure. The securing bolts, which may be permanently attached to the wheel hub 11, may have spacing washers fitted thereon between the wheel attachment 13 and the tractor wheel 10.
