Abstract

657,206. Vehicle wheels. TRIGGS, W. W. (Wingfoot Corporation). Feb. 1, 1949, No. 2761. [Class 144 (i)] A wheel comprises a main load-supporting disc formed in three segments 1 welded together along radial lines 5, from which the segments diverge to circumferentially-spaced rim-centring portions 6, and to the hub 2 at 4. A closuredisc 12, welded to the inner end of the hub, is formed with a step 14 on which the brakedrum 15 is bolted and a flanged outer edge to support the rim-seats 6. As shown, the disc segments 1 are stiffened by radial and circumferential ribs 25, 26.
